At the secondary level an increasing number of students have difficulty making connections between the words they read and what those words mean. In the science classroom this is extremely evident. I plan to research methods and strategies content area teachers can use to improve student comprehension. Specifically, my action research project focus is making critical connections between the student reader and the physics textbook.
